Colony Park Celebrates National Dental Month!

January 16th, 2013

February is National Pet Dental Health Month and we are celebrating by offering a 10% discount on your pet's dental procedure during February and March! Dental care is an important part of maintaining your pet’s overall good health and we are committed to helping you achieve the healthiest life possible for your furry friend.

By the time they're 4 years old, 85% of dogs and cats show signs of oral disease. If left untreated, oral disease can lead to serious consequences for your pet, including severe pain, bad breath, tooth loss and infection of major organs. If your pet has any of the following symptoms, they should be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine if a dental procedure is needed:
  • Bad breath (one of the first signs of periodontal disease)
  • Red or swollen gums
  • A yellow-brown crust near the gum line
  • Discomfort when mouth or gums are touched
  • Possible decreased appetite or weight loss due to difficulty chewing
A routine professional tooth cleaning is necessary to keep your pet's mouth healthy and disease free. During a dental procedure, your pet is anesthetized and an evaluation of their teeth and gums is performed, including radiographs of the tooth roots if indicated. Each tooth is then thoroughly cleaned above and below the gum line with a sonic scaler and polished to create a smooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup. Basic dental procedures range from $260 to $400 depending on your pet's size, age and severity of tartar. Dental Month is a great time to freshen your pet's breath and whiten their smile while saving money! Our staff will be happy to check your pet's record to determine if their veterinarian has recommended a dental procedure. Space is limited, so schedule today!
